This post has been brewing for awhile in spite of racking up wins at home throughout December this basketball season, some against decent competition, but it’s high time to get off the bandwagon of one slapnuts, Rick Pitino.

Stop Defending Rick Already!!!

I frankly don’t care if you want to defend that son of a bitch for his distant past … it falls on deaf ears here. It doesn’t matter that he went to back-to-back title games at UK … we’re not UK!! It doesn’t matter he went to the 2005 Final Four … one in 11 years is an underachievement given the salary, facilities, and fan support.  Not getting top guys to consistently come to Louisville with all of that in place is enough of an indictment of how poor of a job he is doing as anything.

He has neither earned his exorbitant salary nor produced the results he was hired to deliver 11 years ago. His hiring was like a necessary yet temporary evil deal with the devil that should have expired three seasons ago. We got back to relevance which was the shot in the arm we needed around 2008.  Everything since has been a nasty black eye and monstrous string of disappointments.

The moment the Sypher scandal broke, Rick should have been shown the door.  It wouldn’t have cost us a dime because we would have owed him nothing thanks to the morality clause in his contract.  It wouldn’t have hurt us reputation wise because it would have been the “right thing” to do given the details of the case.

Anyway, even if you’re inclined to still believe in Slick Rick, here’s a top 10 list of points to consider as you sip more Pitino cool-aid:

The Top 10 List of Pitino Failures

Here’s a quick rundown of the “wonders” Pitino has accomplished here, especially lately:

  1. Piss poor recruiting … whenever a McDonald’s All American arrives here, why does he typically end up being a bust?
  2. Mind games with the players, fans, and media
  3. A stale offense that results in extended scoring droughts every single game every single year
  4. Lies and half truths vomited daily
  5. Consecutive first round losses in the tournament the past two seasons
  6. A current season that started with consensus Top 10 rankings and hype that’s now on life support (after tonight’s blowout in progress at Providence)
  7. Refusal to play and develop freshmen
  8. Injuries to key players every single season … newsflash to Rick: you’re the only constant the last 11 years, and there have been ridiculous and unexplainable injuries every one of them so it’s not “bad luck.” It’s your stupid conditioning demands!!!
  9. The absolute embarrassment of the program thanks to the Sypher mess
  10. Broken promises of “running and pressing for 40 minutes” then “reinventing our brand” to include a more up-tempo style that will appeal to the top players in the land … it’s been the exact opposite on that one.  We’re rivaling Wisconsin for the most boring brand of basketball in the land.

All of the above is more than enough justification to wipe my ass of that guy. If you want the dingle-berry to hang around some more from your ass, that’s your call.

Please Retire NOW Ricky!!!

Little Ricky babbled earlier in the season that 2017 would be his last year then recently backtracked off of that somewhat.  Slapnuts, do us all a favor and make 2012 your last year on the Louisville sideline.  You’ve more than worn out your welcome, and we won’t miss you one iota.  Thanks for nothing!!!

If this team continues at it’s current abysmal pace, there will be no NCAA Tournament and it may be one of the biggest busts in terms of preseason expectations and rankings in college basketball history.  To allow a mediocre Notre Dame team to waltz in and beat you at home then follow that up with an absolute ass pounding at the hands of Friar Tuck in Providence is inexcusable, Rick.

It’s beyond embarrassing and we deserve a whole lot better in Louisville.
